Video to GIF

Pick a moment from a video and turn it into an animated GIF for chats, documentation, slides and social posts. Choose the length, size and smoothness.

Your files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. Open the videoDrop a video or choose it from your device.
  2. Choose the momentSet start and end, width and frame rate.
  3. Make the GIFPress Make GIF, check it and download.

GIFs that are not huge

GIF can only show 256 colors per image and stores every frame, so GIFs from videos easily become very large. This maker builds one palette from the colors of your selection and stores only the pixels that change between frames, which keeps files much smaller than simple converters. Smaller width and fewer frames per second shrink the file further.

As a rule of thumb, 480 pixels wide at 12 frames per second is a good balance for chats and documentation; for very short reaction clips you can go up to 20 frames per second.

Private and free

The video is read and the GIF is built in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and no watermark is added.
