Webcam test

See your camera picture live and check what it really delivers: resolution, frame rate and aspect ratio. Switch between cameras and save a snapshot.

Free and private. Everything runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Allow the cameraPress Start and allow access when your browser asks.
  2. Check the pictureSee the live image with resolution and frame rate on top.
  3. Try the optionsSwitch camera, request a higher resolution or save a snapshot.

What your camera really delivers

A webcam sold as Full HD may only send 720p to your browser, or drop to 15 frames per second in a dim room. The test shows the resolution the camera actually delivers and counts the frames that really arrive each second, so you see the truth instead of the number on the box.

Use the Resolution list to ask for 720p, 1080p or 4K. If the camera cannot do it, it sends the closest size it supports, and the values update.

Before a meeting or stream

Check your framing, light and background before a video call. The view is mirrored by default, like a mirror, which feels natural; turn mirroring off to see what others see. Your picture never leaves the page, and the camera is turned off when you press Stop, switch tabs or leave the page.

Frequently asked questions

Is my video recorded or uploaded?

No. The picture is only shown on this page. A snapshot is saved only when you press Snapshot, directly to your device.

Why is my picture black?

Another app may be using the camera, a privacy shutter or a function key may disable it, or the browser may lack camera permission in your system settings.

Why is the frame rate low?

Many webcams lower the frame rate in poor light to get a brighter picture. Add light and the frame rate usually goes up.

Why is the picture mirrored?

Mirroring feels natural when you look at yourself. Others see you unmirrored. Turn off Mirror view to check.
