Voice recorder

Record a voice memo, a voice over or an interview straight from your microphone. Listen back in the page and download it in a compact format or as a WAV file that opens everywhere.

Free and private. Everything runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

  3. Listen and downloadPlay it back in the page and download it in the format you chose.

Quick recordings, good quality

Record a voice note for a colleague, a podcast intro, a voice over for a slideshow, a song idea or a language exercise. The level meter shows at a glance whether the microphone hears you and whether you are too quiet or too loud. Noise reduction removes fans and keyboard clicks; turn it off for music, where it can affect the sound.

Every recording you make stays in the list until you leave the page, so you can record several takes and keep the best one.

Pick the right format

WebM with the Opus codec and M4A are small and sound great; they are ideal for messages and sharing. WAV is uncompressed and much larger, but opens in every audio editor, phone and old player, which is useful for editing in Audacity or a video editor. Your audio is processed in the browser and never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is my recording uploaded?

No. It stays in your browser until you download it.

Can I record as MP3?

Browsers cannot record MP3 directly. Record as M4A or WAV, then turn it into MP3 with the audio converter in a few seconds.

Why is my recording quiet?

Move closer to the microphone or raise the input level in your system sound settings. The level meter should move well past the middle when you speak.

Does it work on phones?

Yes, in current mobile browsers. Keep the page open while recording.
