A more reliable number

Short tests reward a fast start. Over three minutes small slowdowns and mistakes even out, and the result is closer to your real everyday speed. Many job applications and typing courses use tests of this length.

The chart at the end shows your speed over the whole test, so you can see whether you slow down towards the end and where mistakes cluster.

Stamina

Relax your shoulders and wrists, keep your fingers on the home row and breathe. Steady typing for three minutes is a good exercise for longer writing sessions.

Repeat the test a few times a week and watch your best score grow.
