Pacific Time to Eastern Time

Convert Pacific Time (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle) to Eastern Time (New York, Washington, Miami).

Free and private. Everything runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Set the timeThe zones are set. Enter a time or keep the live clock.
  2. Read the resultSee the converted time and the difference in hours.
  3. Add more citiesAdd any other city you need.

Always three hours

Pacific Time is 3 hours behind Eastern Time all year, because both regions switch to daylight saving time on the same dates. 9:00 in Los Angeles is 12:00 in New York; a 5 pm deadline in New York is 2 pm in San Francisco.

That makes the difference easy, but the date can still change late in the evening: 10 pm Pacific is 1 am Eastern the next day. The converter shows the date for each city, so schedules across the US stay clear.

Other US zones

Add Chicago for Central Time and Denver for Mountain Time. Phoenix in Arizona stays on standard time all year, so its difference to the other zones changes in summer.

Frequently asked questions

Is Pacific Time always 3 hours behind Eastern?

Yes. Both switch to daylight saving time on the same days.

Is daylight saving time taken into account?

Yes, for the exact date and time you choose, using the time zone rules built into your browser.

Why can't I find my city?

Time zones are named after a main city. Try the nearest large city or the country's capital, or type the time zone, for example Europe/Berlin.

What is UTC?

Coordinated Universal Time, the reference time without daylight saving. GMT is practically the same.

Are my cities saved?

Yes, in your browser only, so the list is ready next time.
