Blank pages from duplex scans
Scanning a stack of single-sided letters on a duplex scanner gives you a blank back page after every page. Exports from Word or slides sometimes add an empty last page, and print layouts insert blank pages so chapters start on the right. Deleting them by hand in a long file takes a while.
The tool draws every page small and measures how much of it is ink, leaving out a thin strip along the edges where scanners leave shadows. Pages below the threshold are marked as blank, and each page shows its ink share so you can see why.
Setting the threshold
The default of 0.3 percent removes truly empty pages and scans with a few specks of dust. If a blank scan has more noise or a visible fold, raise the threshold. If a page with very little content, such as a single line or a page number, gets marked, lower it or untick that page. Nothing is deleted until you press Remove.
What stays the same
The remaining pages are not changed or converted: text, images, links and form fields stay as they were. Removed pages are left out of the file completely, so it also gets smaller.
