Favicon generator

Make all the icons a website needs from one image or a couple of letters: favicon.ico, PNG sizes, the Apple touch icon and Android icons, with the HTML to paste.

Your files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. Choose the sourceAn image or SVG logo, or one to three letters.
  2. Adjust the lookBackground color, shape and padding; check the tab preview.
  3. Download the packageUnzip into your site root and paste the HTML code into the head.

Everything a browser asks for

Browsers, phones and search engines look for different icon files: favicon.ico for old browsers and Windows, small PNGs for tabs, a 180 pixel Apple touch icon for iPhone home screens and 192 and 512 pixel icons for Android and installed web apps. The generator draws every size separately, so the 16 pixel version stays sharp instead of being a blurry shrink of the large one.

The Apple icon gets a solid background because iOS fills transparency with black. The package also contains site.webmanifest and a text file with the HTML lines.

Good favicons are simple

At 16 pixels details disappear. Use a bold symbol or one or two letters with strong contrast, little padding and check both the light and the dark tab preview.
