Gift exchange name generator
This gift exchange generator draws names for any occasion, not only Christmas: each person gives one gift and receives one, nobody draws themselves, and the rules you set for partners or housemates are always respected.
Free and private. Everything runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

How it works
Add everyone taking partOne name per line, with rules for partners or housemates if you need them.
Write the gift rulesSet the budget, the date of the exchange and a short note for everyone.
Draw and shareHand the phone around or send each person their private link.
For any occasion
A name draw keeps a group gift affordable: instead of everyone buying for everyone, each person brings one well chosen present. It works for office parties, classrooms, sports teams, book clubs, a family birthday month, Hanukkah, Eid, a farewell or a New Year swap. The texts on this page avoid Christmas wording, so the private links and the reveal screen fit any celebration.
Write the budget, the date and a short note, for example a theme like something handmade or a book you loved. Everyone sees them together with their name.
Ideas that make it work
Agree on a budget that the person with the smallest wallet is comfortable with.
Ask everyone for a short wish list or three things they like, and add it to the note or a shared chat.
For remote teams, send private links and set the date a week before a video call, so gifts can arrive by post.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as Secret Santa?
The draw works the same way. This page simply uses neutral wording, so it suits birthdays, office parties and any other exchange.
How many people can take part?
From 3 to 200 names. Above about 30, private links are usually easier than passing one phone around.
Can I stop couples from drawing each other?
Yes. Add a rule and choose never paired with. The two people will never be assigned to each other, in either direction.
What if my rules make a draw impossible?
The generator checks this first and tells you which person has nobody left to draw. Remove or change a rule and draw again.
Can the organiser see who drew whom?
In pass the phone mode the result is shown only to the person who taps their name. The private links contain the result, so anyone who opens them, including the organiser, can see it.
Are the names sent to a server or emailed?
No. The draw happens in your browser and nothing is uploaded. The names are saved only on this device so the list is there next time.
Is it free?
Yes, free, with no sign up, no email addresses and no limit on the number of draws.
