How to use them on Instagram
Instagram does not let you choose a font for your profile, but it accepts any Unicode character. Copy a style here, open Instagram, go to Edit profile and paste the text into the Name or Bio field. The same works for captions, comments, story text and direct messages.
Cursive script and bold styles are the most popular for names, small caps and monospace give a clean look for a short bio line, and circled or squared letters work well for a single word that should stand out.
Tips before you paste
Keep your searchable name in normal letters. Instagram search and other people searching for you look for normal letters, so a profile name written only in fancy text is harder to find. A common approach is a normal name with a styled word or tagline in the bio.
Letters with accents, such as é or ç, have no styled version and stay plain. Check the preview before you copy, and remember that some people use screen readers, which do not read styled letters well.
Frequently asked questions
Will the font show on every phone?
Bold, italic, cursive script and small caps show on almost all current phones. Rarer styles can appear as empty boxes on older devices.
Can people still find my profile by name?
Search works best with normal letters. Keep your username and at least your name in normal text and use fancy letters for decoration.
Is my text sent anywhere?
No. The letters are changed in your browser and nothing is uploaded or stored.
Why are some of my letters not styled?
Unicode has styled versions only for A to Z, a to z and 0 to 9. Letters such as é, ç, ğ, ñ or ß have no bold or cursive version, so they stay normal. The line styles, such as strikethrough and underline, work with every letter.
Why do I see empty boxes instead of letters?
The device showing the text has no font with that character. This happens mostly with rare styles on old systems. Choose a common style such as bold, italic or script if many people will read it.
Can I turn fancy text back into normal text?
Yes. Paste the styled text into the box and the tool offers to convert it to plain letters. Upside down text is not converted back.
Do screen readers read fancy text?
Not well. Many read each letter as a math symbol or skip it. Keep names, links and important words in normal text.
Is it free and does it work offline?
Yes, it is free with no account, and after the first visit the page keeps working without an internet connection.
