Symbols that are text
Every symbol here is a Unicode character, the same kind of character as a letter. That is why it can be pasted into almost any app, document, social profile, spreadsheet or code file, and why it takes the color and size of the text around it. How it looks depends on the font of the app you paste it into, so a star or an arrow can look slightly different from one device to another.
Some symbols, such as the heart, the sun or the check mark, can also be shown as colorful emoji on phones. This page shows and copies them in their plain text form by adding an invisible variation selector after them. Emoji are a different set of pictures and are not part of this collection.
For developers and designers
Hover over or focus a symbol to see its name, its Unicode code point (for example U+2192 for the right arrow), the HTML numeric code such as → and the CSS escape such as \2192. You can also search by code: type 2192 or U+2192. The box drawing section helps with text diagrams, tables in plain text files and console output.
Build a string of symbols
Each symbol you click is copied and also added to the text box at the top. Click several symbols to build a combination such as a decorated title or a row of arrows, then copy the whole box at once. Symbols you copied recently appear above the categories, stored only in this browser, and can be cleared with one click.
