Better than a birthday
Most people pick PINs like 1234, 0000 or a birth year, which are the first ones a thief tries. A random PIN from the secure generator of your browser has no pattern at all: every digit has the same one in ten chance.
Six digits give a million combinations, a hundred times more than four. Use the longest PIN your device accepts, and generate a batch at once if you need codes for several locks, SIM cards or test accounts.
Privacy
The PIN is created on your device and never leaves it. Nothing is logged or stored, so write it down somewhere safe or save it in your password manager.
Frequently asked questions
Are 4 digit PINs safe?
They have only 10,000 combinations. Use 6 digits or more when the device allows it.
Are the passwords stored or sent anywhere?
No. They are generated in your browser and disappear when you leave the page.
How long should my password be?
At least 16 random characters for important accounts. Longer is always stronger.
Why include symbols?
Each extra character type makes every position harder to guess. If a site rejects symbols, turn them off and add a few characters.
Is a random password better than a memorable one?
Yes, as long as you store it in a password manager. Memorable passwords tend to follow patterns attackers know.
