A clean picture for every profile
Most networks show profile pictures as a circle, but they store and sometimes display a square: LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, Slack, Teams, Discord and GitHub all crop your upload to a round or rounded shape. Uploading a square image with your face centered and a little space above the head gives the best result everywhere. The live preview next to the frame shows exactly how the circle will look.
Pick 400 pixels for chat and work tools, 800 for most social profiles and 1080 when you want extra sharpness or plan to reuse the image. All three are much larger than the size profiles are shown at, so the picture stays crisp on high resolution screens.
Background color after background removal
A plain colored background makes a profile picture look calm and professional, even when the photo was taken in a kitchen. Remove the background first with our background remover, then open the result here: transparent images are detected and a soft color is placed behind you automatically. Choose one of the ready colors or any color you like, and use the same one on all your accounts for a consistent look.
Space around the photo shrinks the picture inside the shape and shows more of the background color, which works well for logos and for cut out portraits with shoulders. The border draws a ring along the edge of the circle or rounded square, for example in your brand color.
Transparent or filled corners
With PNG the area outside a circle or rounded square stays transparent, so the image sits cleanly on any page, slide or email signature. If a website shows transparent corners as black or white, choose Fill and pick the color of the page. JPG cannot store transparency and always fills the corners.
