For very small images

Avatars, favicons, thumbnails, old web graphics and images saved from messengers are often only a few hundred pixels wide. 4x turns a 256 pixel image into 1024 pixels with clean edges, ready for a presentation, a print or a new design.

The model was trained on real photos and drawings, so it handles both. For larger photos 2x usually looks more natural.

Size limit

For 4x the input can be up to 1024 x 1024 pixels, which gives a 4096 x 4096 result. This keeps the page fast and works on phones too.

Larger photos can still be enlarged with 2x, which allows inputs up to 2048 x 2048 pixels.

Does 4x work for logos and drawings?

Yes. Lines stay clean. For logos a vector version (SVG) is still the best choice when you have it.

Does it invent details?

It sharpens edges and textures in a natural way, but it cannot recover text or faces that are not visible at all.
