Arrows and their usual meanings
The simple right arrow (U+2192) is the everyday choice for steps, directions and from-to pairs such as Paris to Rome. The double arrow (U+21D2) means implies in logic and mathematics, and the double left right arrow (U+21D4) means if and only if. The hooked return arrow is a common sign for reply or back, the circle arrows for refresh and reload, and the stacked pair of arrows for swap or exchange.
Heavy and triangle-headed arrows work well as bullets and in headings, where a thin arrow would disappear. In keyboard shortcuts the enter symbol (U+21B5) and the return symbol (U+23CE) show the Enter key.
Arrows in code and documents
In HTML you can write → for the right arrow or the numeric code shown when you select an arrow. In CSS content use the escape, for example \2192. In Word, type the code (2192) and press Alt+X to turn it into the arrow.
