CSV to Excel

Turn a CSV export into a proper Excel workbook. No more broken characters or numbers squeezed into one column.

Your files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. Add your CSV dataOpen the file or paste its content into the input box. The first row is used as the header.
  2. Check the previewExcel is already selected. Look over the rows and columns in the preview.
  3. DownloadDownload the Excel file or copy the result and use it wherever you need.

Better than opening the CSV in Excel

Double clicking a CSV often shows garbled letters or puts everything in the first column. This converter detects the separator itself and writes a real .xlsx file with proper columns. The CSV should be UTF-8: if letters still look wrong, the file was saved in an older regional encoding, for example by an old Excel, so save it again as CSV UTF-8 first.

Numbers and dates are stored as values you can sum and sort, while codes with leading zeros stay as text.

About CSV

CSV is plain text with one row per line and a separator between the values. It is the most widely supported way to import and export tables in online stores, marketplaces and business software.

About Excel

XLSX is the Excel workbook format used since 2007. It can hold several sheets, keeps numbers and dates as real values and is opened by Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice.

Frequently asked questions

Does it handle semicolon separated files?

Yes. Commas, semicolons and tabs are detected automatically, and numbers like 1.499,90 are read correctly.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Reading and writing happen in your browser. Your files are not sent to our servers.

Can I convert old .xls files?

Old .xls files are not supported. Open them in Excel or LibreOffice and save them as .xlsx first.

What if my workbook has several sheets?

A sheet selector appears after you open the file. Pick the sheet you want and it is converted immediately.

Are formulas kept?

The converter uses the last calculated values that are saved in the file. Formulas themselves are not copied.

How is nested JSON handled?

Nested objects are flattened into columns like address.city, so every value gets its own column.
