JSON to Excel

Turn API responses and JSON exports into an Excel workbook you can filter, sort and share with people who do not read code.

Your files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. Add your JSON dataOpen the file or paste its content into the input box. The first row is used as the header.
  2. Check the previewExcel is already selected. Look over the rows and columns in the preview.
  3. DownloadDownload the Excel file or copy the result and use it wherever you need.

Nested data made flat

Each object in the array becomes a row. Nested objects are flattened into columns such as customer.name and customer.city, so nothing is hidden inside a single cell.

Keys that only appear in some objects still get their own column, with empty cells where the value is missing.

About JSON

JSON is the data format of the web. A table becomes an array of objects, one object per row, with column names as keys. It is ready for APIs, scripts and NoSQL databases.

About Excel

XLSX is the Excel workbook format used since 2007. It can hold several sheets, keeps numbers and dates as real values and is opened by Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice.

Frequently asked questions

What JSON structure is expected?

An array of objects works best. A single object is treated as one row.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Reading and writing happen in your browser. Your files are not sent to our servers.

Can I convert old .xls files?

Old .xls files are not supported. Open them in Excel or LibreOffice and save them as .xlsx first.

What if my workbook has several sheets?

A sheet selector appears after you open the file. Pick the sheet you want and it is converted immediately.

Are formulas kept?

The converter uses the last calculated values that are saved in the file. Formulas themselves are not copied.

How is nested JSON handled?

Nested objects are flattened into columns like address.city, so every value gets its own column.
