Fill PDF form

Fill PDF form opens a fillable PDF and lets you type into its text fields, tick its checkboxes, choose radio options and pick from its dropdown lists, then saves the answers into the file. Forms without fields can be filled by adding text on top.

Your files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. Open the PDFDrop the PDF or choose it. Forms are detected and their fields become fillable boxes.
  2. Add and fillAdd text, images, shapes or white boxes, drag them into place, and type into the form fields.
  3. DownloadPress Download edited PDF. You get a new file; the original stays unchanged.

Fillable forms and flat forms

A fillable PDF has form fields built in, usually made with Acrobat, Word or a form designer. When you open one here, the page jumps to the first field and every field becomes a box you can type into, with the Tab key moving to the next one. Long answers wrap in multi-line fields, and fields marked read-only stay locked.

A flat form is just a printed page saved as PDF, often a scan. It has no fields to fill, and the tool says so. Use Add text to write your answers on the lines and Add image to place a signature or a stamp.

When to flatten

Without flattening, the answers stay in the form fields: the recipient can read them as data, and anyone can still change them. Flattening draws the answers into the page and removes the fields, so the document looks the same everywhere and can no longer be edited as a form. Flatten when you send a final version, keep the fields when someone else still has to fill in their part.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if my PDF is fillable?

Open it here. If it has fields, a note shows how many were found and the fields appear as boxes. If not, the note says the PDF has no fillable fields.

Can I type answers in languages other than English?

Yes. The value is saved in the field. When the standard PDF font cannot print the letters, the answer is written with the embedded Noto Sans font, so it stays real text. Only scripts that font does not include, such as Chinese or Arabic, are drawn as an image.

Can I sign the form too?

Yes. Add an image of your signature with Add image, or use Sign PDF after saving the filled form.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The file is opened and edited in your browser and the new PDF is created on your device. Nothing is uploaded or stored.

Is Edit PDF free?

Yes. There is no account, no watermark and no limit on the number of files.

Can I change the text that is already in the PDF?

Not directly. Cover the old text with a white box and type the new text over it. The old text stays in the file underneath, hidden but still copyable.

Does the white box delete what is under it?

No. It only covers it. Anyone can still copy or search the hidden text. Do not use it to hide passwords, account numbers or other confidential data.

Why can't I select some of the text I added?

Text in Latin, Cyrillic, Greek and Vietnamese letters is saved as real text. Letters that the embedded Noto Sans font does not include, such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic or Hindi, are saved as a picture of the text so they look right in every reader, and that part cannot be selected.

Will the quality of my PDF change?

No. The pages are kept as they are and your additions are drawn on top, so the original text and images stay exactly as before.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. Tap a button to add an item, then drag it with your finger and resize it from the corner handle.
