Make a slow motion video
Slow a video down to half speed, or even to a quarter, without installing an app. The preview plays in slow motion before you save, and voices keep their normal pitch.

How slow is right
0.75x is a gentle slowdown for dance moves, tutorials and fast talkers. 0.5x is the classic slow motion for sports, jumps and splashes. 0.25x stretches a short moment, such as a ball hitting a bat or a drop falling, to four times its length. The new length is shown under the options as soon as you choose.
Slow motion looks smoothest when the original was recorded with many frames per second. Many phones offer 60 fps or a dedicated slow motion mode at 120 or 240 fps. A normal 30 fps video at 0.25x plays at 7.5 frames per second, which looks like a series of stills; the tool does not invent frames in between.
Sound in slow motion
Keep, natural pitch slows the sound down without making it deep, so speech stays understandable at 0.75x and 0.5x. At 0.25x the sound gets a slight echo. Many slow motion clips sound best with Remove, or with music added afterwards using the add music tool.
Frequently asked questions
Can I make slow motion from a normal video?
Yes. Any video can be slowed down. It looks smoother when the original has a high frame rate, such as 60 fps or a phone's slow motion mode.
Is the slow motion video lower quality?
No. Slowing down copies the frames as they are, so each frame looks exactly like the original.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The video is processed in your browser and never leaves your device. There is no watermark and no account.
Does changing the speed reduce the quality?
Usually not: the frames are copied as they are and only their timing changes. The picture is only encoded again when speeding up would go above about 60 frames per second.
Why does slow motion look a bit choppy?
Slowing down spreads the same frames over a longer time. A 30 fps video at 0.25x plays at 7.5 frames per second. For smooth slow motion, record at 60 or 120 fps on your phone first.
Will voices sound high or deep?
Not with Keep, natural pitch: the voice keeps its normal pitch at every speed. Choose Keep, pitch changes if you want the classic fast or slow tape effect.
Can I change the speed of only part of a video?
No, the speed applies to the whole video. Cut the part first with the video trimmer, then change its speed.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes, in current Safari and Chrome. Long videos are faster on a computer.
