What a contact sheet is for
A contact sheet, also called a thumbnail grid, lets you see what a video contains without playing it. It is useful for reviewing footage, choosing a moment for a thumbnail, showing a client the content of a clip, cataloguing an archive or sharing a preview in a chat where a large video would not fit.
Choose the number of columns and rows, for example 4 by 4 for 16 frames, and the width of the sheet. The frames are taken from the middle of equal parts of the video, so the start and end of the video are both represented. Show times prints the time of each frame in its corner.
Frequently asked questions
How many frames can a contact sheet have?
From 2 to 96: up to 8 columns and 12 rows.
Can I make a contact sheet without time stamps?
Yes. Untick Show times before you press Make contact sheet.
Is my video uploaded?
No. The frames are made in your browser and the video never leaves your device.
Are the pictures full resolution?
Yes. With Original size, each picture has the full resolution of the video, for example 1920×1080 for a Full HD video.
How do I save one specific frame?
Choose Current frame, pause the video where you want it and press Save this frame.
How many frames can I extract at once?
Up to 500 per run. Choose a longer interval or a fixed number for long videos.
Why is a frame blurry?
Fast motion is blurred in the video itself, because the camera's shutter was open while things moved. Try a frame a little earlier or later.
