Convert WebM to MP3

Turn the sound of a WebM file into an MP3 that plays in every player, including the ones that do not open WebM.

Your files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. Add your videosDrop the files; the format is already set.
  2. Wait a momentAudio is extracted in seconds.
  3. DownloadDownload one by one or all as a ZIP.

WebM files that will not play

WebM is what browsers, screen recorders and many download tools produce. It plays fine in Chrome, but car radios, older phones, Windows Media Player and many editing apps refuse it. Converting the audio to MP3 solves that in one step.

The audio in WebM is usually Opus or Vorbis. The converter decodes it and writes an MP3 at 192 kbit/s with the same sample rate where MP3 allows it, so music and speech both stay clear.

Audio only WebM works too

Voice notes and recordings saved as audio only WebM, sometimes with the .weba extension, are converted the same way. Several files can be converted together.

About WebM

WebM videos come from screen recorders, browsers and YouTube downloads. Their audio is usually Opus.

About MP3

MP3 is the most widely supported audio format: every phone, car radio, speaker and music app plays it.

Frequently asked questions

Does it work with audio only WebM?

Yes. WebM files with only sound, including .weba files, are converted to MP3 as well.

Why is my WebM not playing on my phone?

Many phones and car radios do not support WebM. Converting to MP3 makes the audio play everywhere.

Can I get MP3?

Yes. MP3 is the default format, at 192 kbit/s. MP3 files are made with the open source LAME encoder (lame.sourceforge.io).

Is the quality the same as in the video?

With M4A and AAC audio, yes: the track is copied without re-encoding.

Are my videos uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser.

Which video formats work?

MP4, MOV, WebM and MKV.
