Markdown that renders everywhere
Tables are written in the GitHub style that most Markdown tools understand, and nested lists keep their levels. Special characters are escaped so they do not turn into formatting by accident.
Images are left out by default to keep the file readable; turn them on to embed them as data URIs.
About Word
DOCX is the Word format used since 2007. Inside it is a ZIP archive with XML files that describe paragraphs, styles, lists, tables and images. Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice and Pages can all save documents as .docx.
About Markdown
Markdown is plain text with light formatting marks: # for headings, * for emphasis and - for list items. It is used in README files, wikis, static site generators and many note apps. Tables are written in the GitHub style.

Which Markdown flavor is used?
CommonMark with GitHub style tables, which works on GitHub, GitLab, Notion, Obsidian and most static site generators.
Is my document uploaded?
No. The file is opened and converted in your browser. It is not sent to our servers.
Can I convert old .doc files?
Only .docx files are supported. Open an old .doc file in Word or LibreOffice and save it as .docx first.
Are images kept?
Yes. Images are embedded into the HTML, so the file works on its own. You can also leave images out to get lighter code.
Why do fonts and colors disappear?
On purpose. The converter keeps the meaning of the content, such as headings, emphasis, lists and tables, so the text takes the look of the page you paste it into.
Does it work offline?
Yes. After you open the page once, documents can be converted without an internet connection.
