Compress PDF to 1MB
Get a PDF under 1MB for upload forms, portals and email. The tool recompresses the images inside until the file fits and leaves text, links and fonts untouched.
Your files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How it works

Where a 1MB limit comes up
1 MB is one of the most common limits on web forms: university course portals, bank and insurance uploads, rental and visa applications, support tickets and contact forms. Reports with photos, scanned contracts and presentations saved as PDF often go over it.
The target is already set to 1MB. Some systems count a megabyte as 1000 KB, so if a form is strict, type 1000 or slightly less to be safe.
What to expect at 1MB
For most digital PDFs, 1 MB means a light touch. Photos are scaled to a sensible size and saved as JPEG at good quality, and the document looks almost the same on screen and on paper.
Scans of around ten grayscale pages often fit without changing the pages into images. Longer or color scans may need that fallback, at 110 DPI first and lower only if needed. The row tells you if text is no longer selectable or if 1 MB could not be reached.
A good order of work
If you need to send several documents as one file, combine them with Merge PDF first and compress the result. Compressing each part to 1 MB and merging later can produce a file that is several megabytes again.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my file 990KB and not exactly 1MB?
The tool keeps the first result under the limit. It never aims to fill the limit exactly, it only makes sure the file is not over it.
My scan is 15MB. Can it reach 1MB?
Often yes, especially in grayscale. If it cannot, you get the smallest possible version and the row says the target was missed.
Are my documents sent anywhere?
No. Compression runs on your device, so contracts and statements stay private and there is no upload to wait for.
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. Compression runs in your browser and the files never leave your device.
Will the text get blurry?
No. Only images are recompressed. Text and vector graphics stay exactly as they were, except in the Pages to images mode.
Why did my file barely get smaller?
It may contain mostly text, or its images are already compressed well. Try Strong, or Pages to images for scanned documents.
Is there a size limit?
No fixed limit. Very large files depend on the memory of your device.
Can I compress a PDF to an exact size, like 200KB?
Yes. Choose Target size and type the limit in KB. Images are reduced first, and pages are turned into images only if that is not enough to fit.
