Compress PDF to 200KB

Reduce a PDF to 200KB or less for online forms that limit each attachment. The tool tries the gentlest settings first and returns the first result under the limit.

Your files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. Add your PDFsDrop one or more PDF files or choose them from your device.
  2. Choose a levelMedium suits most documents. Use Strong for the smallest file.
  3. DownloadSee how much smaller each file got and download it, or all of them as a ZIP.

Where a 200KB limit comes up

200 KB is a common cap on scholarship, admission and job application forms, on some tax and social security sites and on many visa portals that ask for several short documents. It is enough for a clear certificate or a short letter, but not for a color scan straight from a phone.

The target is already set to 200KB. You can type another limit in KB, and several PDFs can be added at once and downloaded together as a ZIP.

Digital PDFs and scans at 200KB

Documents created on a computer, such as a CV, an invoice or a letter with a logo, usually reach 200 KB by recompressing their images alone. Text, links and fonts stay as they were, so the file is still searchable.

A scanned document of one or two pages often fits too. Longer scans may need the fallback: pages are turned into images at 110 DPI and lower until the file fits. Text then stays readable but cannot be selected, and the row says so.

Getting more room

Every page costs space, so delete blank or duplicate pages first. If you are building the PDF from phone photos, crop them to the paper edge before using Image to PDF; the dark background around a document wastes bytes.

Frequently asked questions

How many pages fit in 200KB?

It depends on the content. A text only PDF can have dozens of pages, while a scanned page usually needs 50 to 150 KB after compression.

Can I set 190KB instead?

Yes. Type any value in KB in the maximum file size field.

Does it work with password protected PDFs?

No. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, then compress the file.

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. Compression runs in your browser and the files never leave your device.

Will the text get blurry?

No. Only images are recompressed. Text and vector graphics stay exactly as they were, except in the Pages to images mode.

Why did my file barely get smaller?

It may contain mostly text, or its images are already compressed well. Try Strong, or Pages to images for scanned documents.

Is there a size limit?

No fixed limit. Very large files depend on the memory of your device.

Can I compress a PDF to an exact size, like 200KB?

Yes. Choose Target size and type the limit in KB. Images are reduced first, and pages are turned into images only if that is not enough to fit.
