What a minute is good for

One minute is short enough to feel easy and long enough to matter. Coaches use it for plank holds, wall sits and jump rope rounds. Teachers use it for quick quizzes, one minute papers and the classic minute to write everything you remember about a topic.

It is also the standard length for elevator pitches, speed networking rounds and many party games, where everyone needs to see the same clock. Switch to full screen so the whole room can follow the countdown.

Tips

Press the space bar to start and pause without touching the mouse. If you need several rounds, press Start again when the alarm rings; the timer starts a new minute right away.

Frequently asked questions

Can I count down 60 seconds again and again?

Yes. When the alarm rings, press Start again or the space bar and a new minute begins.

Does the timer work in a background tab?

Yes. The alarm is scheduled when you press Start, so it rings on time even when you are in another tab or app. Keep the tab open.

Will the timer continue if I reload the page?

Yes. The end time is saved in your browser, so the countdown continues. Click anywhere once after a reload so your browser allows the sound.

Can I use it without sound?

Yes. Choose No sound; the tab title and the screen still show when the time is up.

Is it free?

Yes, completely free, with no sign up and no limit.
