Five minutes, many uses
Five minutes is the classic short break between focused work sessions, the steeping time for many black and herbal teas, and a common limit for lightning talks and student presentations. It is also long enough for a quick tidy up, a breathing exercise or a short walk away from the screen.
In class, a five minute timer on the projector keeps group work on track: everyone sees the ring shrinking and knows when to wrap up.
Need a bit longer?
Press +1 min while the timer runs to add another minute without stopping. You can also type any other time in the fields below the timer, and it is remembered for your next visit.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add more time?
Press +1 min while the countdown runs. Each click adds one minute and moves the alarm accordingly.
Does the timer work in a background tab?
Yes. The alarm is scheduled when you press Start, so it rings on time even when you are in another tab or app. Keep the tab open.
Will the timer continue if I reload the page?
Yes. The end time is saved in your browser, so the countdown continues. Click anywhere once after a reload so your browser allows the sound.
Can I use it without sound?
Yes. Choose No sound; the tab title and the screen still show when the time is up.
Is it free?
Yes, completely free, with no sign up and no limit.
