Instagram post size

Crop a photo to the exact Instagram post size and choose yourself which part stays in the frame, instead of letting the app cut it.

Your files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. Add your Drop the image, choose a file or paste it with Ctrl+V.
  2. Set the cropDrag the frame or type exact pixel values. The dark area is what gets removed.
  3. Download the Download the result, or continue with compressing, resizing or converting it.

The right size for feed posts

Instagram shows feed photos at a width of 1080 pixels. A square post is 1080 × 1080 (1:1), a portrait post 1080 × 1350 (4:5) and a landscape post 1080 × 566 (1.91:1). Portrait takes the most space in the feed, which is why many accounts prefer it.

The square size is selected on this page; switch to Instagram portrait in the list for 4:5. The result is saved at exactly that size, so Instagram does not crop or resize it again.

Before you post

Keep important text and faces away from the edges. Upload the JPG straight from your phone or computer; it is already the size Instagram wants.

Frequently asked questions

What size is best for Instagram posts?

1080 × 1350 (4:5) uses the most screen space. 1080 × 1080 square works for everything.

Will Instagram lower the quality?

It always compresses, but a photo already at 1080 pixels width is not scaled again, which keeps it sharper.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Cropping happens in your browser. Your images are not sent to our servers.

Does cropping reduce quality?

No. The kept area is saved at its original resolution. Only when you choose a ready made size is the image scaled to that exact size.

How do I make a round profile picture?

Choose the circle shape. The frame becomes a square with a round preview, and the image is saved as PNG with transparent corners.

Can I crop on my phone?

Yes. The frame and its handles work with touch, and the handles get bigger on touch screens.

Does it work offline?

Yes. After you open the page once, you can crop images without an internet connection.
