Instagram story size

Crop a photo to the full screen story size of 1080 × 1920 pixels, the 9:16 format also used by Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts.

Your files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. Add your Drop the image, choose a file or paste it with Ctrl+V.
  2. Set the cropDrag the frame or type exact pixel values. The dark area is what gets removed.
  3. Download the Download the result, or continue with compressing, resizing or converting it.

Full screen 9:16

Stories fill the whole phone screen at 1080 × 1920 pixels. Photos with another shape get bars or are zoomed in by the app, which often cuts off heads and text. Cropping yourself lets you decide what is visible.

The same 9:16 size works for Reels covers, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and WhatsApp status, so one crop serves several platforms.

Leave room for the interface

The top and bottom of a story are covered by the profile name, the reply box and stickers. Keep faces and text in the middle area, roughly 250 pixels away from the top and bottom edges.

Frequently asked questions

Does this also work for Reels and TikTok?

Yes, they use the same 1080 × 1920 (9:16) size.

Can I crop a landscape photo for a story?

Yes. Move the frame to the part you want; the rest is cut off.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Cropping happens in your browser. Your images are not sent to our servers.

Does cropping reduce quality?

No. The kept area is saved at its original resolution. Only when you choose a ready made size is the image scaled to that exact size.

How do I make a round profile picture?

Choose the circle shape. The frame becomes a square with a round preview, and the image is saved as PNG with transparent corners.

Can I crop on my phone?

Yes. The frame and its handles work with touch, and the handles get bigger on touch screens.

Does it work offline?

Yes. After you open the page once, you can crop images without an internet connection.
