X (Twitter) header size

Crop a picture to the X header size of 1500 × 500 pixels, the 3:1 banner at the top of your profile, without stretching or random cropping.

Your files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. Add your Drop the image, choose a file or paste it with Ctrl+V.
  2. Set the cropDrag the frame or type exact pixel values. The dark area is what gets removed.
  3. Download the Download the result, or continue with compressing, resizing or converting it.

The 3:1 header

X (formerly Twitter) shows a 1500 × 500 pixel header across the top of every profile, with a file limit of 5 MB. Pictures in other shapes are cropped by X, often cutting off the top and bottom.

On phones the header is shown smaller and taller cuts happen at the edges, so keep the main subject in the middle third.

Mind the profile picture

Your round profile picture overlaps the lower left of the header. Keep text and logos away from that corner.

Use a JPG for photos and a PNG for graphics with text or flat colors.

Frequently asked questions

What is the X header size?

1500 × 500 pixels (3:1), at most 5 MB.

Does this still work after the rename to X?

Yes. The header size did not change.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Cropping happens in your browser. Your images are not sent to our servers.

Does cropping reduce quality?

No. The kept area is saved at its original resolution. Only when you choose a ready made size is the image scaled to that exact size.

How do I make a round profile picture?

Choose the circle shape. The frame becomes a square with a round preview, and the image is saved as PNG with transparent corners.

Can I crop on my phone?

Yes. The frame and its handles work with touch, and the handles get bigger on touch screens.

Does it work offline?

Yes. After you open the page once, you can crop images without an internet connection.
