How it works
Add your JPG filesDrop them onto the page or choose them from your device. You can add as many as you like.
Check the settingsThe output is already set to WebP. You can still change the settings if you need to.
DownloadSave each WebP on its own or get them all at once in a ZIP file.
Why convert JPG to WebP?
WebP files are usually 25 to 35 percent smaller than JPG at the same visual quality. For a product catalog or a blog with many photos, that adds up to faster pages and lower bandwidth costs.
Because the conversion runs on your device, you can process a whole folder of photos without waiting for uploads.
About JPG
JPG (or JPEG) is the most widely used format for photos. It uses lossy compression to keep files small, and almost every device, app and website accepts it. It does not support transparency, and quality drops a little each time a JPG is edited and saved again.
About WebP
WebP is a modern format made for the web. It supports both lossy and lossless compression as well as transparency, and its files are usually much smaller than JPG or PNG. All current browsers show WebP, but some older programs and upload forms still do not accept it.
Frequently asked questions
Do all browsers support WebP?
Yes. Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari all show WebP images. Some older desktop programs still cannot open them.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser on your own device. Your files are not sent to our servers.
Is there a limit on file size or number of files?
There is no fixed limit. Very large images depend on how much memory your device has, so a phone may struggle with images above about 50 megapixels.
Is it free?
Yes. There is no sign-up and no watermark.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Yes. After you open the page once, it keeps working even if your connection drops, because the conversion runs entirely in your browser.
What happens to transparent areas when I convert to JPG?
JPG cannot store transparency, so those areas are filled with a background color. White is the default and you can pick another color in the options.
Which format gives the smallest file?
It depends on the image. After converting, use Find the smallest format: the tool tries WebP, JPG and PNG with your own files and shows which one is smallest.
Can I keep working on the converted files?
Yes. The Next step bar takes your results straight to another conversion without uploading or choosing them again.
Does it work with animated GIFs?
The first frame of an animated GIF is converted as a still image.
