Convert WebP to PNG

Convert WebP to PNG to keep full quality and transparency in a format that works in almost any editor.

Your files never leave your device. Everything runs in your browser.

How it works

  1. Add your WebP filesDrop them onto the page or choose them from your device. You can add as many as you like.
  2. Check the settingsThe output is already set to PNG. You can still change the settings if you need to.
  3. DownloadSave each PNG on its own or get them all at once in a ZIP file.

Why convert WebP to PNG?

If you want to edit a WebP image or use it in software that does not support WebP, PNG is the safest choice. It is lossless, so nothing gets lost in the conversion, and transparent backgrounds stay transparent.

The trade-off is file size. A PNG can be several times larger than the original WebP.

About WebP

WebP is a modern format made for the web. It supports both lossy and lossless compression as well as transparency, and its files are usually much smaller than JPG or PNG. All current browsers show WebP, but some older programs and upload forms still do not accept it.

About PNG

PNG is a lossless format. It keeps every pixel exactly as it is and supports transparent backgrounds, which makes it ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics with text. The downside is size: photos saved as PNG are often several times larger than the same photo as JPG.

Frequently asked questions

Is transparency kept?

Yes. PNG fully supports transparency, so transparent areas stay transparent.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser on your own device. Your files are not sent to our servers.

Is there a limit on file size or number of files?

There is no fixed limit. Very large images depend on how much memory your device has, so a phone may struggle with images above about 50 megapixels.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no watermark.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Yes. After you open the page once, it keeps working even if your connection drops, because the conversion runs entirely in your browser.

What happens to transparent areas when I convert to JPG?

JPG cannot store transparency, so those areas are filled with a background color. White is the default and you can pick another color in the options.

Which format gives the smallest file?

It depends on the image. After converting, use Find the smallest format: the tool tries WebP, JPG and PNG with your own files and shows which one is smallest.

Can I keep working on the converted files?

Yes. The Next step bar takes your results straight to another conversion without uploading or choosing them again.

Does it work with animated GIFs?

The first frame of an animated GIF is converted as a still image.
